• Milam Named Acting DASD MCFP

Charles E. Milam, SES, who most recently served as principal director for Military Community and Family Policy (MCFP), has been named Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for MCFP, effective July 22, 2012.   Agencies Consolidate with Personnel

A new era in Air Force quality of life formally took place on July 17, 2012, as the Air Force Services and Manpower Agencies were inactivated, and then designated as directorates of the “new” Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC).

The formal recognition of the June 1 field operating agency (FOA) consolidation — signed off by Air Force Secretary Michael Donley and then Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz, USAF — took place on a typically humid day in Hangar 41 at Randolph AFB, Texas, with several dignitaries, past and present, on hand to witness the ceremonies, as well as airmen representing the new AFPC.

Lt. Gen. Darrell D. Jones, USAF, Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower, Personnel and Services, led Maj. Gen. Alfred J. Stewart, USAF, AFPC commander; Col. Thomas C. Joyce, USAF, relinquishing duties as commander, Air Force Services Agency (AFSVA); and Col. Kent B. White, USAF, relinquishing duties as commander, Air Force Manpower Agency (AFMA), into the hangar as the ceremonies got underway. ...

• Marine Corps MR Realignment

Semper Fit and Exchange Services Division (MR) Director William Dillon, SES, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, recently announced a multi-faceted realignment of parts of the division's structure.

The changes, which took effect July 16, included elevating Semper Fit to directorate status from that of a branch; the formation of a new Compliance, Assurance and Analysis Branch; and the appointment of a Chief of Staff....
