The Army & Air Force Exchange Service has named a new deputy director, Air Force Maj. Gen. Joseph S. Ward Jr., to succeed Brig. Gen. Casey Blake, USAF, who has been transferred.

The Exchange has also realigned several upper-echelon directorates to be "consistent with the retail industry and keep the organization moving forward." In the realignment,

• Chief Merchandising Officer (CMO) Ana Middleton now reports directly to AAFES Director Tom Shull instead of Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mike Howard;

• Loss Prevention Directorate VP Richard Koloski now reports to COO Howard instead of the deputy director; and

• Procurement Support and Policy Director Virgil DeArmond now reports to Chief Strategy Officer Michael Immler, who heads the Strategic Plans and Partnership Directorate, instead of the deputy director.
