The Art of Play: Park's Hi-Tech, Inclusive Playground

The inclusive, hi-tech playground at West Park in the City of Nampa, Idaho, is a great destination point for families within the Nampa community, providing engaging and accessible playground equipment and attractions for children of all ages and abilities.

“West Park is a large 44-acre park that is significant to the Nampa Parks system,” explained City of Nampa Parks and Recreation Director Darrin Johnson. “And because it is located in a heavily populated area, city leaders felt it was necessary to invest in a universally accessible ADA playground. It is important that all children, regardless of their physical abilities, have the opportunity to play, and city leaders also wanted the park to be a place that would serve citizens with all physical capabilities.” ...

New Community Center Opens at Malmstrom AFB

Sacramento Firefighters Embracing New Wellness CultureWith the recent opening of a new community center at Malmstrom AFB, Mont., families on base now have a one-stop location for aquatics, fitness, sports and recreation.

“It gives the families a place to meet and come together in more of a group atmosphere,” said Jennifer Benski, community manager for Balfour Beatty Communities, which operates Malmstrom Family Housing. “It’s important to have a facility like this for families to get out and about and meet other families to build more relationships.”

At the grand opening for the community center on May 5, Balfour Beatty Communities Project Director Luke LaLiberty said, “I would like to remind you of the reason we are here today — the U. S. military family. In addition to the military members who serve and protect around the world, there are the family members who remain behind and serve on the home front. It is our mission to give our military world-class service, and communities in which to do that.” ...
